The costumes of the historical Greek geographical area

The publication traces the evolution of garments from antiquity to the mid-twentieth century. It originated in a series of lectures delivered by Ioanna Papantoniou in 2018, and was subsequently expanded and enriched with further research and original photographic material. Much of this material derives from extensive fieldwork, which has been a cornerstone of the Foundation’s work.

An exhibition marking the bicentenary of the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi, presenting garments and objects from the collection of the Basil Papantoniou Foundation, alongside rare editions from its Library and a private collection. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the Foundation’s founder, Ioanna Papantoniou, who recently passed away.
